TARGET GOAL REACHED and code still frustrating

I have listed 100 targets, my goal.
Well, I should actually cut a few of those out for being too far south, but I'm basically there. How far south can I go?

Also, my code does not quickly send the cluster parameters to zero after a few iterations anymore. Typo in calculating the averages. Also, I can't use ASCC-2.5 data. Even though Kharchenko et al 2005 did, I don't see actual cluster like features on the CMD.
Though those mistakes are eliminated, I can't seem to get the proper values. The main sequence gets fit quite nicely, but it completely ignores the turn-off and the red clump. Especially since NGC2099 has a nicely defined red clump, what happens when it is sparse or non-existent?

  1. That's a good question about the sparsely populated clump. First, you should make sure that all of your stars, both on the MS and off of the MS, are contributing to your fit. Are you getting reasonable probabilities for each of these groups of points?

  2. how do I figure out if it's not contributing to the fit? I am getting much lower probabilities from the red giants, even after I take out the IMF. Red giant probabilities hang around 1% where normal stars hang around 10%. But both have legitimate probabilities, and both are still adding into the final log likelihood. I do not know what I am doing wrong.
